I had a break between meetings so I picked up Emmie from school today. She was a chatty box as usual and apparently today is fact-checking-with-mama day.

E: leprechaun’s pee is green! He came to my school and peed in the bathroom! Mama, why didn’t leprechaun come to our house? Is leprechaun real? 

A: hmmmm. Did your teacher say leprechaun went to your school? 

E: yeah! 

A: yeah, leprechaun is real (I can’t be that person whose kid is running around saying the teacher lied)

E: do you know Easter bunny? Is Easter bunny real?

A: yeah! Easter bunny will come next Sunday! He will hide some eggs and you can find them!

E: mama do you know tooth fairy? 

A: of course! Tooth fairy only comes when you lose a tooth though. 

E: is tooth fairy real? 

A: yeah! I think so! 

E: I like unicorn it’s so pretty. Is unicorn real?

A: (now we draw the line) oh baby, pls, unicorn is not real it’s in cartoons!
